Chips paid at a bet of 20, for three, four or five in a row from the leftmost reel. The dimmer figures are payouts smaller than the bet: a single line of those costs more than it returns. The Throne stands in for every symbol in this table and doubles the line it helps. A line of Thrones alone pays the Throne's own prize.

A round pays at most 2,500 times the bet.

A slot that shows where its return waits

Lotus Throne is a free Cleopatra alternative: our own slot machine, built to play the way IGT's Cleopatra plays.

Five reels, three rows, 20 lines that pay from the left, a wild that stands in for the paying symbols and doubles the line it helps, and a scatter that pays anywhere and, at 3 or more, starts 15 free spins with wins tripled. If you came looking for a free game like Cleopatra, this is that mechanic, with reels that spin and stop, lines that light up and wins that are counted up in front of you. The name, the symbols, the throne hall on the Nile, the sound, the reel strips and the pay table are ours.

In line bets, one part in 20 of the spin's bet. Thrones alone pay their own prize and are not doubled, and five of them on a line are not tripled either.

3 or more Lotuses anywhere in view start 15 free spins, in which every win pays 3 times as much.

What is different from Cleopatra, and from any real machine, is everything a real machine leaves out.

This one returns 96.02% of the chips bet on it and keeps 3.98%, and that figure is counted from the reel strips, which are printed in the code this page runs. 36.0% of spins pay something, but 43% of those pay less than the spin cost and another 8.5% of all spins only hand the bet back, so only 11.9% of spins leave you with more chips than before. The machine lights up for all of them. The status line under the reels and the coach beside them tell you which kind you just had.

The free spins are where this kind of machine keeps much of its return: 37% of everything Lotus Throne pays back arrives through them, and they start on about 1 spin in 91.

The paid spins on their own return 60.4%. There is no decision in a slot to get better at. What this page is for is entertainment, and seeing clearly what this kind of machine does: how often it pays, how it dresses up a small payout, how long the wait for the feature is, and what a session of it costs on average.

It pays on the whole bet, not on a line. 3 or more during free spins add 15 more, up to 180 in one round.

  • Five reels, three rows and 20 fixed lines. Every spin plays all 20 lines at a bet of 20, 40, 100 or 200 chips, which is one twentieth of that on each line.
  • A line pays for three, four or five of the same symbol in a row, counted from the leftmost reel. Two of a kind pay nothing. There are thirteen symbols: 5 premium symbols, 6 lower ones, the Throne and the Lotus. Falcon is the highest of the ordinary symbols: five on a line pay 600 times the line bet. Bead is the lowest: three on a line pay 4 times the line bet, which at a bet of 20 is 4 chips back on a 20 chip spin.
  • The Throne is wild. It lands on every reel and stands in for every paying symbol, never for the Lotus, and a line win it stands in on pays 2 times the usual prize. Thrones alone pay their own prize, 100, 500 or 2,500 times the line bet for three, four or five, and that prize is not doubled. A line that can be read both ways pays once, as the reading worth more.
  • The Lotus is the scatter. It pays wherever it lands, on the whole bet and not on a line. As multiples of the bet it pays 1 for 2, 4 for 3, 25 for 4 and 150 for 5 in view, so two Lotuses return the bet exactly. Only the number in view pays.
  • 3 or more Lotuses also start 15 free spins, the same 15 whether there are three, four or five. They are played on the same reels at the bet of the spin that won them.
  • Every win during free spins pays 3 times as much, the Lotus prize included, and a line a Throne stands in on pays 6 times. The one exception is five Thrones on a line, which pay their prize as it stands.
  • 3 or more Lotuses during free spins add 15 more. One round can run to 180 free spins at most.
  • A round pays at most 2,500 times the bet. If it gets there, the free spins end.
  • Autoplay plays 10, 25, 50 or 100 spins at the current bet. It needs a loss limit before it starts, and it stops at that limit, when the spins run out, or when you stop it. Free spins are a bonus feature: if a spin wins them they play out in full, and then autoplay stops.
  • The whole round, free spins and all, is decided when Spin is pressed. The animation plays it back and cannot change it.
  • Sound starts on, and the Sound button switches it off.

FAQ

Is this slot played for real money?
No. The table uses play chips that have no value, cannot be bought, and cannot be cashed out or exchanged for anything. If you run out, you are handed another stack for free. There is no account and nothing to download.
What is the RTP of Lotus Throne?
96.02%. That is the share of all chips bet that the machine pays back on average, so it keeps 3.98%. It is counted from the reel strips, not sampled: the paid spin is counted exactly, and the average value of the free spins follows from the same count. At the smallest bet of 20 chips that works out at about 80 chips per 100 spins on average, with wide swings around it in any one session.
How often does it pay, and how often do the free spins start?
36.0% of spins pay something, about 1 in 3. But 15.5% of spins pay less than the bet, which is a net loss that looks like a win, and 8.5% return the bet exactly. Only 11.9% of spins, about 1 in 8, pay more than they cost. The free spins start on 1.10% of spins, about 1 in 91, so the chance of seeing them at all in 100 spins is about 67%.
Is Lotus Throne a free alternative to Cleopatra?
Yes. It is built like Cleopatra: five reels, three rows, 20 lines paying left to right, a wild that doubles the line wins it completes, a scatter that pays anywhere, and 15 free spins for 3 or more scatters, with wins tripled and the chance to retrigger up to 180 spins. It is free, it needs no account, and it is played with chips that have no value. It is not Cleopatra itself, which is IGT's game, and it is not made, licensed or endorsed by IGT.
How is it different from Cleopatra?
The mechanic is the same family and everything else is our own: the name, the art, the sound, the symbols, the reel strips and the pay table. So the numbers are different too. Lotus Throne returns 96.02% with a 36.0% hit rate, and those are this machine's figures only. They say nothing about Cleopatra's. Lotus Throne always plays all 20 lines. The other difference is what sits beside the reels: the published figures, a status line that calls a payout smaller than the bet a loss, and a session coach.
Does autoplay change the odds?
No. Every spin is drawn the same way and the return stays 96.02%. What it changes is speed: more spins fit into an hour, and the cost of an hour is the number of spins times the 3.98% the machine keeps on each. That is why autoplay here will not start without a loss limit, and why it stops once a round of free spins has played.
How much do the free spins pay?
On average 32.5 times the bet, over an average of 17.9 spins once retriggers are counted. That average is made of a few large rounds and many small ones, and a round of free spins can pay almost nothing: tripling a small win gives a small win. 37% of the machine's whole return comes through the free spins, which is why a session that never reaches them runs well below 96.02%.
Can I tell when the free spins are coming?
No. Each reel stops on its own, every stop on a strip is equally likely, and a spin starts from nothing. A run of blank spins does not make the feature due. Two Lotuses with no third are not a sign of anything: they return the bet and the next spin has the same odds as every other.
What is the most a spin can pay?
A round is capped at 2,500 times the bet, free spins included. In a simulation of 20,000,000 rounds no round reached that ceiling, and the largest paid 799 times the bet. A round that pays 100 times the bet or more came up about once in 1,748 spins in that simulation. Almost all of the machine's return arrives in far smaller payouts, and there is no jackpot.

How this game works

Each reel is a fixed strip of 55 symbols carrying two Thrones and two Lotuses. A spin picks one stop on each strip with your browser's random number generator, every stop equally likely, and the three symbols from that stop down are what shows. Nothing else decides a result, and free spins use the same strips. There are 503,284,375 ways the five reels can stop.

The 96.02% return is counted, not simulated. Every one of those combinations is priced against the pay table, which gives the exact chance of every amount a paid spin can pay: that is where the hit rate, the share of payouts below the bet and the 1.10% chance of the free spins come from. A free spin is the same spin at 3 times the pay, five Thrones on a line excepted, so its average follows from the same count, and the average number of free spins in a round (17.9, retriggers and the 180 spin limit included) is worked out exactly from the chance of 3 Lotuses. An automated test repeats the count a slower way, one combination at a time through the same code the machine plays with, and requires the two to agree. The house edge on the common casino bets puts the 3.98% this machine keeps in context.

Two figures are simulated and not counted, because they depend on how a whole round of free spins adds up: the standard deviation of one spin's result, 5.7 bets, and the odds of a round paying 100 times the bet or more, about 1 in 1,748. They come from 20,000,000 whole rounds played from a fixed seed through the same rules, and an automated test replays that seed and requires the same result. That run returned 96.24%, within its sampling error of the counted 96.02%, and no round in it reached the 2,500 times ceiling. The counted return leaves the ceiling out, so the true figure is lower by an amount too small for that simulation to measure.

A standard deviation of 5.7 bets a spin, with 37% of the return in a feature that starts about once in 91 spins, is what we mean by calling this machine medium volatility: frequent small payouts, long stretches without the feature, and occasional rounds worth tens of bets.

The expected figure in the session panel is the share the machine keeps multiplied by the chips you have bet on finished spins. The coach's count of spins in the last minute is taken from when you pressed Spin.

Limits

  • The reel strips and pay table were designed for this page. They are not a copy of Cleopatra or of any other real machine, and these figures describe this machine only.
  • Cleopatra is IGT's game and its name belongs to its owner. Lotus Throne is an independent alternative built on the same kind of mechanic. It is not made, licensed or endorsed by IGT.
  • A real slot is usually shipped in several return settings and the casino chooses one. The same title can keep noticeably more than the figure quoted for it, and a real machine does not print its reel strips.
  • The reels are stopped by an ordinary browser random number generator. It is not an audited or certified generator, and nothing here should be read as a test of one.
  • Autoplay is here because the machine this one is modeled on has it. It makes a machine cost more per hour, so it will not start without a loss limit, and the coach prices the pace while it runs. There is no turbo mode, because the sources we checked do not show that the original has one. There is no bonus buy and no gamble feature, which the original does not have either.
  • The standard deviation and the large-win odds are estimates from a simulation, and carry its sampling error. The return and the hit rates are exact for these strips, before the win ceiling.
  • Play chips do not feel like money. A long wait for the free spins is harder to sit through, and to stop after, with a real stake.

This is a practice game for adults. It has no real-money play and links to none. Cleopatra, or any slot played with money, keeps its share of every spin, and no way of timing or sizing the spins changes that. On this machine 43% of the spins that pay anything still cost more than they return, and 37% of the return sits in free spins that most short sessions wait a long time for.
