Flat staking risks the whole bankroll in a fixed number of losses. Proportional staking shrinks each bet as you lose, so it bleeds slower but never fully recovers to the same stake without winning.

A bankroll is the money you have set aside for betting and can afford to lose. Staking a fixed percentage of it on each bet keeps you in the game through losing runs: bets shrink automatically when you are down and grow as you recover.

This calculator turns a bankroll figure and a risk level into a flat stake. Cautious (1%) is slow but hard to bust; aggressive (4%) grows faster but swings hard. Most disciplined bettors sit between 1% and 2%.

FAQ

What percentage of my bankroll should I bet?
A flat 1–2% per bet is the common cautious range. Going above ~5% meaningfully raises your risk of ruin during a normal losing streak.
Flat staking or percentage staking?
Percentage staking (recalculating the stake as your bankroll changes) compounds gains and cuts losses faster. Flat staking a fixed amount is simpler and fine for short periods.
How is this different from the Kelly calculator?
This uses a fixed risk level you choose. The Kelly tool derives the stake from your actual edge and the odds — use it when you can estimate your edge.
