On the name

Amazing Casino Tools For Awesome People

actfap is a backronym. It predates the site, and we kept it, though what it ended up attached to is mostly arithmetic.

Who makes this

One person, named.

Alexander Korsager, Founder of actfap.com

Alexander Korsager founded and builds actfap. He has worked in iGaming since 2016, most recently as Chief Gaming Officer at Legend in Berlin, where he oversees Casino.org and Casino.guru.

The full career record, credentials and press citations are on the author page.

Independence

Independent, and free to use.

  • Free to use

Every tool on actfap is free to use.
  • No login, no paywall

Nothing here asks for an account, and nothing sits behind a paywall.
  • Runs in your browser

Nothing you type is sent to a server, stored remotely, or shared: every calculator runs entirely in your browser.

The disclosure

Alexander Korsager's day job is Chief Gaming Officer at Legend, where he oversees Casino.org and Casino.guru, commercial businesses with advertising and operator relationships; actfap.com carries no affiliate links, no ads, no paid placements and no operator relationships of its own, built and funded independently of that day job.

Methodology

How the numbers are worked out

The calculators use standard, well-established formulas: implied probability from odds, expected value, the Kelly criterion, gambler’s ruin, pot odds and so on. Where a guide states a formula, the tool uses exactly that formula.

Worked example

  1. Step 1: Formula

    EV = p(o - 1) - (1 - p)

Expected value per unit staked, at decimal odds o won with probability p.

  2. Step 2: Source

A published, standard formula, stated on the expected value calculator itself.
  3. Step 3: Test

Checked against known reference values by an automated test that runs on every change to the calculator.

Reference figures

House-edge and return-to-player figures are either derived from a model published on this site or taken from widely cited values for common rule sets, for example:

Blackjack, basic strategySix decks, dealer stands on soft 17
0.41%
European rouletteSingle-zero wheel
2.70%
Baccarat, banker betWith a 5% commission
1.06%

Each is an approximate house edge. Real games vary with local rules, so treat them as representative rather than exact for any specific table.

Simulators

The simulators run Monte Carlo trials with a seeded pseudo-random number generator, so a given set of inputs produces a stable result you can reproduce, with a “re-run” control to resample.

Nothing here predicts outcomes or beats a negative-expectation game: the tools are for understanding the maths, not for gaining an edge that does not exist.

Corrections

Wrong number? Say so.

If a figure or formula looks wrong, it is worth flagging. The maths being correct is the entire point of the site.

The corrections policy covers how to report it and what happens next.
