Decide the cost before you start
Gambling is entertainment with a price, like a concert ticket. The useful question is not how much you might win but how much the evening is allowed to cost. Pick that number first, and treat reaching it as the end of the session. You can set one below and the coach will hold you to it.

A wheel with every price on show
The money wheel is the simplest game on a casino floor: pick a symbol, watch the wheel, get paid the number printed on it.
It is also one of the most expensive. The cheapest symbol on this wheel, 1, costs 11.11% of every chip put on it, about 2.1 times an even-money bet on a double-zero roulette wheel at 5.26%.
The 1 is on 24 segments of 54 and hits 44.4% of the time. It is the cheapest symbol on the wheel.

- An even-money bet on double-zero roulette5.26%
The prices get worse as the payouts get bigger.
Joker and Star pay 40 to 1 and cost 24.07%, 2.2 times what the 1 does. The table under the wheel shows each symbol's edge and how often it hits, and prices your layout while the chips are still in your hand. Seeing which symbols your chips are on, and what they cost, is the lesson.

Rules at this table
| Symbol | Pays | Sits on |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 to 1 | 24 of 54 |
| 2 | 2 to 1 | 15 of 54 |
| 5 | 5 to 1 | 7 of 54 |
| 10 | 10 to 1 | 4 of 54 |
| 20 | 20 to 1 | 2 of 54 |
| Joker | 40 to 1 | 1 of 54 |
| Star | 40 to 1 | 1 of 54 |
Every segment is equally likely, so a symbol's chance of hitting is its share of the 54.
- The wheel has 54 equal segments carrying 7 symbols. It stops with one segment under the pointer at the top.
- Joker and Star have 1 segment each and pay 40 to 1. They are separate bets: a chip on one does not win when the other comes up.
- You can back as many symbols as you like on one spin. Only the symbol under the pointer pays, and every other chip on the layout loses.
- Any symbol takes up to 500 chips. Your bets stay on the layout for the next spin until you clear them.
FAQ
- Is this money wheel game played for real money?
- No. The table uses play chips that have no value, cannot be bought, and cannot be cashed out or exchanged for anything. If you run out, you are handed another stack for free. There is no account and nothing to download.
- What is the best bet on the money wheel?
- The 1. It covers 24 segments of 54, hits 44.4% of the time and costs 11.11% of the chips on it, the lowest edge on the wheel. That is still a high price: an even-money bet on a double-zero roulette wheel costs 5.26%.
- Why are the big payouts the worst bets?
- Because the payout falls further short of the true odds. Star sits on 1 segment of 54, so a payout that cost nothing would be 53 to 1. It pays 40 to 1, and the gap is a house edge of 24.07%. The pattern is not perfectly even: the 10 at 18.52% costs less than the 5 at 22.22%.
- How is each spin decided?
- Your browser draws one random number per spin and maps it to one of the 54 segments, with every segment equally likely. Nothing depends on your bets, your balance or earlier results. The wheel animation is drawn afterwards to stop on the segment already chosen.
How this game works
Each spin draws one random number in your browser and maps it to one of the 54 segments, every segment equally likely. A symbol's chance of hitting is the number of segments it sits on divided by 54. Its house edge is one minus that chance multiplied by what a winning chip returns, the payout plus the stake. For the symbols on this wheel that comes to: 1 11.11%, 2 16.67%, 5 22.22%, 10 18.52%, 20 22.22%, Joker 24.07%, Star 24.07%.
The expected cost of a spin is each symbol's edge taken on the chips placed on it, added up. Best and worst result are found by settling your layout against every symbol in turn. The roulette figure used for comparison comes from the same module as the roulette payouts tool. The segment counts and payouts here are the common layout of a casino Big Six wheel, and the edges are tested by counting through all 54 segments.
Limits
- Wheels differ between casinos. Some pay the two rare symbols at a higher price, and some use a different mix of segments, which changes every edge on this page. Only the layout described above is dealt here.
- A chance that some bet wins is not a chance of finishing ahead: a winning symbol can return less than the whole layout cost.
- Play chips do not feel like money. A losing run that is easy to sit through here is harder with a real stake.
This is a practice game for adults. It has no real-money play and links to none. A money wheel played for money has a house edge on every symbol, among the highest of any table game, and no choice of symbols or amount of practice removes it.
