Storm Summit: a free Gates of Olympus alternative

Built like Gates of Olympus: a six by five grid that pays anywhere, tumbles, and multiplier symbols that build a total in the free spins. Played with chips that are worth nothing, with the machine's real numbers and a session coach beside it.

Orbs in view

0x

Orbs multiply a spin only if it has a win. Most do not.

Gambling is entertainment with a price, like a concert ticket. The useful question is not how much you might win but how much the evening is allowed to cost. Pick that number first, and treat reaching it as the end of the session. You can set one below and the coach will hold you to it.

Chips paid at a bet of 20. A symbol pays when 8 or more of it are anywhere on the grid, then the winners are removed and the grid tumbles. The dimmer figures are payouts smaller than the bet. Per cell is the chance of that symbol in any one cell on a paid spin: every cell is drawn on its own. 4 or more Temples start 15 free spins, and 3 or more during them add 5. No round pays more than 5,000 times the bet.

Tumbles and multipliers, with the weights shown

Storm Summit is a free Gates of Olympus alternative: our own slot machine, built to play the way Pragmatic Play's Gates of Olympus plays.

A grid of 6 columns and 5 rows with no lines, where 8 or more of a symbol anywhere pays, winners are removed and the grid tumbles, multiplier symbols worth 2x to 500x land on any spin or tumble, and 4 scatters start 15 free spins with a total multiplier that builds. It has the ante bet and the feature buy too. If you came looking for a free game like Gates of Olympus, this is that mechanic. The name, the art, the sound, the symbol weights and the pay table are ours.

8 of a symbol, anywhere on the 6 by 5 grid

0.6xthe bet for 8 Violet stones: less than the spin cost, so a loss

No lines and no reels to line up. The 8 winners are removed, the grid tumbles, and the spin goes on until nothing new pays.

What is different from Gates of Olympus, and from any real machine, is everything a real machine leaves out.

This one returns 96.26% of the chips bet on it and keeps 3.74%, a figure simulated over 400 million spins with the weights printed on this page. 36.7% of spins pay something, and 59% of those pay less than the spin cost, so only 14.1% of spins leave you with more chips than before. 26% of everything it pays back comes from free spins that start about once in 366 spins. The machine lights up for every payout. The status line under the grid and the coach beside it tell you which kind you just had.

  • The grid is 6 columns by 5 rows, 30 cells, with no lines. One bet of 20, 40, 100 or 200 chips covers the whole grid, and every pay is a multiple of that bet.
  • A symbol pays when 8 or more of it are anywhere on the grid. There are three rates: 8 to 9, 10 to 11, and 12 or more.
  • There are nine paying symbols. Crown is the highest: 12 or more pay 40 times the bet. Blue stone is the lowest: 8 or 9 pay 0.3 times the bet, which is 6 chips back on a 20 chip spin.
  • Winning symbols are removed, the symbols above them fall, and new ones drop in from the top. That is a tumble. It repeats until no symbol pays, and everything a spin wins this way is its tumble win.
  • The Storm Orb is a multiplier worth 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x or 500x. It can land on any spin or tumble and stays until the tumbling ends. Then the values of all Orbs in view are added together and the spin's tumble win is multiplied by the sum. An Orb on a spin with no win does nothing.
  • The Temple is the scatter. 4, 5 and 6 or more in view when the tumbling ends pay 2, 10 or 50 times the bet, on any spin, and 4 or more on a paid spin start 15 free spins.
  • In free spins, when an Orb lands on a spin that wins, its value is added to a total multiplier that lasts for the rest of the feature, and that spin's tumble win is multiplied by the whole total. A winning free spin with no Orb on it is paid without a multiplier, and Orbs on a free spin with no win are not added.
  • 3 or more Temples on a free spin add 5 free spins. There is no limit on how often.
  • No round pays more than 5,000 times the bet. If a round reaches that, it stops there, any free spins left are not played, and it pays exactly 5,000 times the bet.
  • Ante bet: an optional switch. The spin costs 25% more, pays are still multiples of the bet without the ante, and the Temple is more likely in every cell, which raises the chance of free spins from about 1 spin in 366 to about 1 in 183.
  • Feature buy: for 100 times the bet you can buy a spin that is dealt 4 Temples, so it always starts the free spins. It tumbles and pays like any other spin. The buy asks you to confirm the price first, it needs the chips to cover it, and it is switched off while the ante is on.
  • Autoplay plays 10, 25, 50 or 100 spins at the current bet, with the ante if it is on. It needs a loss limit before it starts, and it stops at that limit, when the free spins have run, when the spins run out, or when you stop it. Tumbles play through. Autoplay never buys the feature and never changes the bet.
  • Turbo shortens the animation. It does not change the odds, the return or any result.
  • The whole round, free spins included, is decided when Spin or Buy is pressed. The animation plays it back and cannot change it.
  • Sound starts on, and the Sound button switches it off.

FAQ

Is this slot played for real money?
No. The table uses play chips that have no value, cannot be bought, and cannot be cashed out or exchanged for anything. If you run out, you are handed another stack for free. There is no account and nothing to download.
What is the RTP of Storm Summit?
96.26% on an ordinary spin, 96.15% with the ante on, and 95.85% on a feature buy. Each is the share of the chips paid in that the machine pays back, so on an ordinary spin it keeps 3.74%. The figures are simulated, not counted: 400 million seeded spins in each of the two spin modes and 20 million bought features, which pins each figure to within about 0.1 of a percentage point. At the smallest bet of 20 chips an ordinary spin costs about 75 chips per 100 spins on average, with very wide swings around it.
How often does it pay?
36.7% of spins pay something, about 1 in 3. But 21.5% of spins pay less than the bet, which is a net loss that looks like a win, and tumbles can make it look like several. Only 14.1% of spins, about 1 in 7, pay more than they cost. The free spins start about once in 366 spins.
Is Storm Summit a free alternative to Gates of Olympus?
Yes. It is built like Gates of Olympus: a 6 by 5 grid that pays for 8 or more of a symbol anywhere, tumbles, multiplier symbols from 2x to 500x, 15 free spins from 4 scatters with a total multiplier, an ante bet and a feature buy. It is free, it needs no account, and it is played with chips that have no value. It is not Gates of Olympus itself, which is Pragmatic Play's game, and it is not made, licensed or endorsed by Pragmatic Play.
How is it different from Gates of Olympus?
The mechanic is the same family and everything else is our own: the name, the art, the sound, the symbol weights and the pay table. So the numbers are different too. Storm Summit returns 96.26% with a 36.7% hit rate, and those are this machine's figures only. They say nothing about Gates of Olympus's. The other differences are deliberate: the feature buy here spends play chips and asks you to confirm its price, autoplay will not start without a loss limit, and beside the grid sit the simulated figures, a status line that calls a payout smaller than its cost a loss, and a session coach.
What does the feature buy cost and what does it return?
It costs 100 times the bet: 2,000 chips at the smallest bet. Simulated over 20 million bought features, a buy returns 95.85% of its price on average, about 1,917 chips of that 2,000, which is about the same return as spinning. The average hides the spread: 71% of bought features pay back less than they cost, and the standard deviation of one buy is 1.51 times its price. A buy does not improve the odds. It places 100 spins of stake in a few seconds.
What does the ante bet change?
It changes the price, not the value. With the ante on a spin costs 25% more (25 chips at a bet of 20) and the free spins start about once in 183 spins, up from once in 366. The return is 96.15% with it and 96.26% without, so the machine keeps about the same share of a bigger spin, and an hour of play costs more.
Do autoplay and turbo change the odds?
No. Every spin is drawn the same way and the return stays 96.26%, or 96.15% with the ante on. What they change is speed: more spins fit into an hour, and the cost of an hour is the number of spins times the 3.74% the machine keeps on each. That is why autoplay here will not start without a loss limit, and why it stops once the free spins have run.
Can I tell when a win or the free spins are coming?
No. Every cell is drawn on its own from the same weights, and a spin starts from nothing. A run of blank spins does not make a win due. Three Temples, one short of the feature, land on about 1 spin in 56 and pay exactly what any other losing spin pays. A large Storm Orb is no sign either: on 59% of the paid spins where an Orb lands, there is no win for it to multiply.
What is the most a spin can pay?
5,000 times the bet. That is a cap built into the machine: a round that reaches it stops and pays exactly that. In the simulation about 1 ordinary spin in 13 million reached it. A round that pays 100 times the bet or more comes up about once in 933 spins. Most spins pay nothing.

How this game works

There are no reel strips on this machine. Each of the 30 cells is drawn on its own with your browser's random number generator, and so is every symbol that drops in on a tumble. On a paid spin the chance of each symbol in a cell is: Crown 3.62%, Hourglass 5.09%, Ring 6.79%, Chalice 8.60%, Red stone 11.54%, Violet stone 13.01%, Amber stone 14.71%, Green stone 16.41%, Blue stone 18.10%, Temple 1.66%, Storm Orb 0.48%. With the ante on, the Temple's weight is raised so that it is 2.02% of the total and the other weights are unchanged. On a free spin the Temple is 1.66% and the Storm Orb 2.78%, and the paying symbols keep the same proportions to each other. A bought spin has 4 Temples placed on 4 cells picked at random and draws its other cells from the paid-spin weights with the Temple left out. An Orb's value is drawn from: 2x 28.71%, 3x 21.05%, 4x 14.35%, 5x 10.53%, 8x 7.66%, 10x 5.74%, 12x 4.31%, 15x 3.35%, 20x 1.91%, 25x 1.15%, 50x 0.77%, 100x 0.33%, 250x 0.10%, 500x 0.05%.

The returns are simulated, not counted. A grid that refills an unknown number of times and then runs free spins has no practical number of combinations to walk through, so the machine was played instead: 400,000,000 ordinary spins, 400,000,000 spins with the ante on and 20,000,000 bought features, each run from a fixed seed through the same code the machine on this page plays with. An automated test replays the opening stretch of each run from its seed and requires the tally to match the published one count for count. A simulation has sampling error: one standard error is 0.05 percentage points on the ordinary return, 0.06 on the ante and 0.03 on the buy. The house edge on the common casino bets puts the 3.74% this machine keeps in context.

From the ordinary run: 36.7% of spins pay anything, 21.5% pay something smaller than the bet, and 14.1% pay more than the bet. Free spins start on 0.27% of spins, run to 16.6 spins on average, and account for 26% of everything paid. 63% of everything paid exists only because a multiplier applied: it is the difference between what was paid and what the same rounds pay with every Orb read as 1x. The standard deviation of one spin's result is 10.9 bets, which is very high volatility: long runs of nothing, and most of the return in a small number of rounds.

With the ante on, the return is 96.15%, free spins start on 0.55% of spins, and 25.1% of spins pay something smaller than their cost. A bought feature returns 95.85% of its price, 71% of buys pay back less than the price, and the standard deviation of one buy is 1.51 times the price.

The expected figure in the session panel is the share the machine keeps on an ordinary spin multiplied by the chips you have staked on finished rounds, where a buy counts as its full price. The coach's count of spins in the last minute is taken from when you pressed Spin or Buy.

Limits

  • The symbol weights and pay table were designed for this page. They are not a copy of Gates of Olympus or of any other real machine, and these figures describe this machine only.
  • Gates of Olympus is Pragmatic Play's game and its name belongs to its owner. Storm Summit is an independent alternative built on the same kind of mechanic. It is not made, licensed or endorsed by Pragmatic Play.
  • The figures are simulated, so each carries the sampling error stated above. They are not exact counts.
  • A real slot is usually shipped in several return settings and the casino chooses one. The same title can keep noticeably more than the figure quoted for it, and a real machine does not print its weights.
  • The cells are drawn by an ordinary browser random number generator. It is not an audited or certified generator, and nothing here should be read as a test of one.
  • The feature buy and the ante are here because the machine this one is modeled on has them, and so that their real price can be seen. The buy spends play chips only.
  • Autoplay and turbo are here because the machine this one is modeled on has them. Both make a machine cost more per hour, so autoplay will not start without a loss limit, and the coach prices the pace while it runs.
  • Play chips do not feel like money. A long blank run, or a bought feature that pays back a fraction of its price, is harder to sit through with a real stake.

This is a practice game for adults. It has no real-money play and links to none. Gates of Olympus, or any slot played with money, keeps its share of every spin, and no ante, buy, timing or bet size changes that. On this machine 59% of the spins that pay anything still cost more than they return, and 71% of bought features pay back less than their price.
